Cure Psoriasis with Ayurveda

Psoriasis is a chronic, autoimmune disease that appears on the skin. It occurs when the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells. Psoriasis is not contagious. The scaly patches caused by psoriasis, called psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. There are mainly five types of psoriasis; they are plaque, guttate, inverse, putsular, and erythrodermic. Psoriasis can occur at any age but is commonly seen in the start stage of adultery. It can occur at any part of the body including the scalp. Ayurveda has effective treatment for Psoriasis. Ayurveda, coined by combining two Sanskrit words, ‘ayur’ and ‘veda’ is the traditional treatment methodology used in India. Ayurveda aims at curing human illness and thereby supporting human life. Ayurvedic concepts treat each individual as unique and thus the treatment for each one varies accordingly.

The causative factor for psoriasis is still a mystery. Some consider that psoriasis is caused due to the excessive production of skin cells and some others believe that psoriasis is caused because of immunity disorder. Hereditary factors also affect this issue, which is accepted world widely. Even stress is considered as a factor that causes psoriasis. From the researches done, It is found that ‘Panchakarma’ (five actions) can be considered as effective treatment for psoriasis. Panchakarma includes Nasya (nasal therapy), Vamana (vomiting), Virechana (purging), and two kinds of Vasti (enema). Panchakarma is meant to purify the body by eliminating the toxins.

Diet restrictions have to be maintained when the treatment is done. The patient has to follow complete vegetarian diet. Yogurt, chilies, black gram and excess salt should be avoided from the daily routine. Stress and infection can make psoriasis worse.
