A Journey to the ‘Lion City’

Posted by on Nov-13-2010

Today, the journey to my new destination has begun. I said ‘Khuda Hafiz’ to the Dubai Port. I was standing on the deck, the ship slowly moved. Soon slashing the waves our ship moved forward.
Though it was too hot in Dubai, we had a good time there. While the ship was in for some maintenance Raziya and I went to explore the Dubai City. We went for the most popular Desert Safari, we stopped to watch the beautiful sunset and then we also went for camel ride and sand boarding. Those cheerful moments would remain as sweet memories.
Our next stop over is the Singapore port. It is one of the busiest ports in the world. If everything goes on well we will reach the Singapore port in 13 days. Raziya is so eager to reach there. She is surfing for the best restaurants and shopping centers.
Singapore is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The name Singapore has derived from the Malay word Singapura, which means ‘Lion City’. Singapore is in fact one of the most enjoyable cities in Southeast Asia.
A number Asians of various descents like China, Malaysia and India immigrate to Singapore. About 42 percent of populations in Singapore are foreigners who work and study there. Due to the immigration, enormous array of Asian dishes is one of the iconic Singaporean experiences. It has created one of the world’s great eating capitals.
If there’s one thing more stylish than the bars and restaurants, it’s the boutiques that have made Singapore a byword in Asia for extravagant shopping. But Singapore is not all about shopping and eating but you can also have some adventure, which include sharks at Underwater World on Sentosa, mountain biking around Bukit Timah, wakeboarding on the Kallang River and many more.
Raziya would definitely love Singapore. So do me, as my happiness is in her smile.
